I’m not gonna lie.. I’m actually pretty excited to have a rainy weekend. I’ll probably regret saying this come Monday, but for now, I needed a reason to stay in the city, rather than rushing to the beach.
Per usual, I’ve forgotten to keep up with my weekly “Favorite Things” series, but I’m hoping with summer winding down, that that’ll change. Now, with out further ado…
A few days ago, I stumbled upon what I’d consider, one of Boston’s hidden gems. The Brattle Book Shop is tucked into a side street in the Downtown Crossing neighborhood, discreetly hidden behind the huge Macy’s. Really though, unless you were lost or knew where to go, you’d never find this place. I won’t get into too much detail now (I’m starting a new “Hidden Gems” series), but let’s just say that I’ll be back… quite frequently.
This past week, my boss brought the entire staff on an outing around the seaport and Charlestown (lucky for me, right in my ‘hood!). We ended the night with drinks at Pier 6, my new favorite watering hole. It has the most a-mazing views of the city and a great outdoor deck for some al fresco dining & drinking. Best yet, got a boat? You can cruise right up to the restaurant/bar’s dock.
I made a quick escape to Newport recently and watched the most beautiful sunset at The Lobster Bar. I’m beyond excited because my fiance just moved back to Boston & we finally get to enjoy the rest of the summer together.
Lastly, a friend I met while living in San Diego came to Boston for a few days. Of course, we had to grab a cappuccino at Ogawa Coffee in Downtown Crossing. Their baristas make the most beautiful latte art!
