Now that Jeff and I live in the ‘burbs, it can be a hassle to get in and out of the city each day for work. And when these recent blizzards and nor’easters hit New England, causing us to lose power, we knew it was time to pack up and head into Boston for a staycation.
Luckily, I recently discovered Stay Alfred, which is basically a mix between a boutique hotel and a vacation rental. They have rentals all around the country, such as Chicago, Dallas, Nashville, New Orleans, Portland, and more. Plus, since Stay Alfred actually owns the apartment/condo that you’re renting, the decor, artwork, furniture, and amenities are all the same, no matter which rental you book.
The location that Jeff and I stayed at was nestled right in Boston’s historic South End neighborhood. Located at 32 Garrison Street, it was walking distance to Back Bay, Newbury St, local cafes, and restaurants, plus much more.
My favorite part? When you enter the building and walk through the courtyard, the city sounds absolutely disappear, making it feel like you aren’t actually in the middle of bustling Boston.
After checking in and grabbing our keys, we made our way to the apartment. I was blown away by the size, especially since I’m so used to small hotel spaces whenever in a city. This Stay Alfred location had a huge living room, kitchen, two bedrooms, a bathroom, walk-in closet and a separate dining table to enjoy meals. While it was only Jeff and me, it could have easily fit another family member, friend, or couple, in case we were traveling with anyone.
Once we dropped off our luggage though, we figured since we were in the city, might as well enjoy a night out on the town. Since Jeff’s a huge sports fan, we hopped in an Uber to TD Garden to catch the Bruins game. It was so close and luckily, the Bruins won during overtime. That was, of course, Jeff”s favorite part. Mine was that we could easily hop back in an Uber and were back at Stay Alfred in 10 minutes, rather than our normal 45-minute commute back home.
Right when we got back, I hopped into bed, put on Netflix, and quickly fell asleep.
The next morning, I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I was that it was only going to take me 10 minutes to get to work, rather than the 1-hour door-to-door commute.
We got ready, made some coffee in the kitchen, and enjoyed breakfast in the living room, just as the first few snow flakes began to fall (can it just be spring already?!). Once finished, we grabbed our bags and were on our way, so grateful for the relaxing evening.
Looking to book your own vacation or staycation at a Stay Alfred property? Since it caters to both short term and long term renters, there are truly options for everyone.
