Let’s just start with the fact that I am horrible at styling my own outfits. For years, I’ve skimmed and saved hundreds (probably thousands) of Pinterest and Instagram posts from my favorite style bloggers, hoping to at least try to re-create my favorite looks.
Lucky for moi, the styling service Trunk Club recently rolled into town and opened the most amazing showroom, right in the heart of Boston.

Not sure what Trunk Club is? Well, I heard about it years ago, but at the time, it had started off as a service for just men (ahem, Jeff needed some wardrobe help… just kidding… or am I?… 🙂 ). Anyways, it is a personal styling service for men and women, perfect for those short on time, looking for guidance from a stylist (this girl right here), or for those looking to try a new way of shopping for clothes.
So, on a typical mid-week morning, while scrambling around my room, going through every piece of clothing I owned and still not feeling my best, I realized it was time to hit up a Trunk Club stylist.
Once I created an account, I was assigned a stylist and a phone call was scheduled. My stylist, Emily, asked a dozen or so questions to get a sense of my personal style, favorite colors, brands I loved, and so on. From there, we set up an appointment to come by the showroom and I was one step closer to finally learning how to dress myself (only took about three decades).
Since Trunk Club specializes in both women’s and men’s clothing, I brought Jeff along, especially since he’d been a fan when the company first launched years ago.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by the Trunk Club team, offered a beverage (they. have. a. bar. omg.) and led to our styling area.
Let me take a moment here to talk about the showroom’s design. If I could have the Trunk Club team design my house like they did for their showroom, I’d be in heaven. In shades of blue, grey, beige, teal & more… it was like they had designed the space specifically for me (OK, I realize they did not, but its nice to think they did).
Now, back to styling.
Mine and Jeff’s looks were already pulled and waiting for us to try on. My rack was a mix of neutral colored dresses, blouses, denim, and shoes. For the next 30 minutes or so, we had the opportunity to try on each outfit and provide feedback to our stylist.
After popping some bubbly and taking a moment to look over what I had just tried on, I went home with the most beautiful white blouse (perfect for repeat looks) and a pair of Jeffrey Campbell heels… ready to tackle my workday wardrobe dilemnas.
And luckily for Jeff, the Trunk Club showrooms have a HUGE selection for men, so he was able to try on multiple styles of denim, shorts and button-ups.
Now, if you can’t get to a showroom (they also have locations in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, Washington DC and Charleston), Trunk Club also offers a trunk service to women and men throughout the continental US. Your stylist will send a trunk of handpicked clothing straight to your door. You’ll always receive an itemized preview email first. Once you sign off on your stylist’s selections, your trunk will be shipped and you’ll then have five days to try everything on.
A $25 home try-on fee will be credited toward whatever you choose to keep, and you can return the rest with our free shipping service.
This post was brought to you by Trunk Club, but all opinions are my own.
