To coincide with the recent launch of The New England Life, I’m also introducing a new weekly series, where I tell you about 5 things – whether they are meals, moments or new knick knacks I’ve discovered – that made an impact in my life in the past week. Here it goes…
Over the weekend, I made my to Rhode Island to enjoy the warm weather and a few days at the beach. I’ve always loved the Coast Guard House in Narragansett, a historic building that’s been there since the late 1800’s. They had a few setbacks when Hurricane Sandy hit, but I’m glad to see that they are back up & running again.
Holy shiz. While I’m embarrassed to admit that I had never had an oyster until about a year ago, I’m glad that food phobia has passed. While in Rhode Island, I made my way over to Matunuck Oyster Bar. Seemed like everyone else had the same idea too (there was quite a long wait), but after dining on the lobster roll and oysters, plus enjoying the amazing view, I can understand why.
Nom. I’ve been to Dave’s Coffee in Charlestown a few times in the past, but couldn’t pass by without picking up an iced coffee and fan favorite blueberry muffin to go.
Ha! While shopping at Paper Source a few days ago near the Boston Common, I couldn’t stop laughing about the pizza slice pool float I spotted. I just might have to pick one up before 4th of July weekend…
And lastly,
I’m not super into Snap Chat, but I do enjoy it at times, especially when viewing the featured city video story. This Friday, June 19, the world’s eyes will all be on Boston as locals have the chance to highlight certain parts of the city. I received some intel from a friend of a Snap Chat employee with tips on how to get your snap chat video on the stream. They are:
- Never turn the phone horizontal
- Take video, rather than photos
- Show off the city
- Record a landmark and show something funny about it
- Play up your Boston accent
- Have fun, be energetic and act as a tour guide!
